Additional Details

From a series of Hickok portraits done in New York by George Rockwood in 1873 or 1874, although the images were not generally released under his name. This is the portrait of Hickok used on the cover of his first biography, Buel's 1880 "Will Bill, the Scout." Rosa, West of Wild Bill Hickok, 101b, illustrates an identical CDV with a backstamp from the Majilton Photographing Company.
